As well as being widowed by Calan Smith's death, Sophie Williams, 32, now faces losing her home and her business.
A pregnant mum-to-be has spoken of her heartbreak after her beloved partner passed away, meaning her daughter will never meet her dad. Sophie Williams was looking forward to starting a family with Calan Smith before he took ill and tragically died.
The mortgage on the couple's home is in Calan's name and, although he wrote a will, he did not have life insurance. Sophie, who is due to give birth to their daughter in November, recently launched a dog grooming business from a pod in their garden. But the future of her home and her business is now up in the air - and she faces this turmoil as a widow and single mum.
Top news stories today Calan had first complained of chest pains in April, Amy explained. She said: "He had been to the doctors and they said that they thought he had pulled some muscles in his chest. We thought nothing of it as he likes to work out and we thought maybe he had just over-exerted himself.
The doctors told the family that it was "rare but completely curable", Amy said, which meant they "were really hopeful". But Calan and his loved ones were then told medics couldn't find the primary source of the cancer - and eventually got the devastating news that it had spread and he was transgerred to a hospice.
