Pregnant former British Council teacher Sadaf is trapped in Pakistan due to delays in a UK Government visa relocation schme Supplied and Phot Ben Shread/MoD/PA)A pregnant Afghan teacher who worked for the British Council before the Taliban takeover has been trapped in a Pakistan hotel room for months waiting for her UK visa, due to delays in a Government relocation scheme.
But despite completing all her biometric security checks in March, 2023 under the Government’s Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme she remains stranded and “in limbo”.“It’s very hard for me. I lived in a small room for four months, there wasn’t any window. It was a very dark room with no facility or access to air conditioning.
“My life is very bad. If I give birth to my baby in this hotel room I need lots of things. I have an urgent situation. They [the UK Government] should pay attention to people like me.” Other colleagues she knows who passed biometric tests at the same time as her received their visa approval emails, she said.
