The National Trust for Scotland has revealed that a popular beauty spot in the Scottish Highlands is being damaged by campfires and littering following a busy tourist season.
A beloved Scottish beauty spot has been "damaged" by visitors according to the National Trust for Scotland .
The NTS has revealed that campfires have damaged the scenic area, which is also part of a site of special scientific interest as a result of its diverse and internationally significant plant life. The nature reserve's visitor centre has seen a 35 per cent increase in visitors compared with last yeat, while there have been 18 per cent more tents and 10 per cent more campervans and motorhomes in the area.
Senior ranger Scott McCombie commented: "Campfires have a negative impact on both the glens’ peat-rich low-level soils and thinner, fragile upland soils.
