Boston Borough Council approves chip shop's flats conversion plan 🏢

Boston Borough Council has given the nod to plans for transforming the upper floor of Tates Restaurant, a much-loved local fish and chip shop, into residential flats. The application said: “In recent years, the popularity of the restaurant has declined due to competition since the arrival of modern cafe and bakery chains such as Costa, Greggs, etc.

They also emphasised that the flats will provide future occupants with sufficient residential amenities. A condition has been proposed to mitigate potential noise disturbance from the extraction system of the ground-floor fish and chip shop.Although it does not provide for off-street parking, the Highway Authority has highlighted the site's central urban location, which allows access to services and facilities via sustainable travel options, thereby reducing the need for private cars.
