The 37-year-old man was rushed to hospital in the early hours of this morning where he later died.
High-visibility patrols will be in place in Greenock after a man was reportedly gunned down at a property in the town.

"Today, and over the coming days, there will be significant police activity with both uniform and detective officers present within the local area as well as specialist forensic teams, carrying out inquiries in to this death.
