He stole his victim's bike and cycled past him as he lay dying

This is the face of murderer Faheem Younis who stabbed Darren Davis in the heart and brazenly rode off on his bike. Wearing a white open-neck shirt and trousers in court, Younis was given a life sentence on Thursday over the killing of Mr Davis, who was 46 when he died a year ago today, August 10.

Younis, 42, was given a minimum term to serve before parole of 24 years. Alongside him in the dock was Laney Aikens, aged 40, of Denman Street Central, Radford, who was found guilty of assisting an offender at the same trial. He was captured on CCTV heading to Garfield Street where he dumped the murder weapon, handed to him by Younis, in a drain. Police released their images following the sentencing.

“It’s a sad indictment to the damage drugs do to communities, and the devastation they bring to families. While I know Darren’s family are heartbroken by their loss, I hope today’s sentences brings some comfort to them.
