The 'targeted' attack happened on Saturday afternoon when the vehicle mounted a pavement and smashed into a man on Higher Croft in Eccles.
A resident has told the M.E.N. he saw the man being hit by a car with a 'group of youths' inside. The episode then took a violent turn, he claimed. "I just saw some youths in a car," he said. The witness said the car was then pushed along by one of the youths as it 'wouldn't start', before the group managed to escape.
