A crime scene investigation van, police cars and a white tent were seen on Upper William Street, just off Great Howard Street, in Vauxhall on Wednesday, August 23. The only thing stopping members of the public from thinking there was a real incident was the dozens of camera crew and staff wearing high-vis jackets as they filmed for ITV's hit series The Tower.
It was announced ITV had commissioned a third series of the gripping crime thriller on August 8. The show, written by acclaimed screenwriter Patrick Harbinson, stars Game Of Throne's star Gemma Whelan, who played Yara Greyjoy, Peaky Blinders star Emmett J Scanlan, Tahirah Sharif and Jimmy Akingbola.The film is being produced by Harbinson’s Windhover Films and Mammoth Screen and will have four episodes. Patrick Harbinson said: “We’re delighted to be filming a third series of The Tower.
"Gallowstree Lane has a high-stakes drugs and gangs storyline with Jimmy and Emmett’s characters taking major roles. Sarah and Lizzie have gripping and heart-breaking stories too, as the drama of Portland Tower comes full circle.The Tower has previously been filmed in Liverpool, with Gemma Whelan being spotted inside a car on Vauxhall Road, Liverpool as a technician sat on top of the car in a police chase.
