Police collided with the bike when it slowed down
An off-road biker went the wrong way down the A52 to escape from police, Nottingham Crown Court heard. Reece Mills had been "showing off" when he pulled a wheelie for ten seconds where the A52 meets Thoresby Road, Bramcote.
Police took his gesture as an indication he was not going to stop as he approached the roundabout with Brian Clough Way and ignored a red traffic light. As other cars had to stop in his wake, he left the roundabout on the wrong side of the road and squeezed through gaps between stationary cars.Police were unable to continue the chase at that point but waited for Mills to emerge on Derby Road, in the direction of Stapleford. Mills went straight in front of the police vehicle when he reappeared.
Recently he swapped his bike for this one and was in the process of getting it registered for the road. Higher court-advocate Roger Wilson mitigated on behalf of Mills, who pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and insurance, failing to stop, and dangerous driving on Derby Road, Stapleford.
