The blaze at the historic building has caused anger and outrage

Two men, aged 66 and 33, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following the fire at the Crooked House pub in Himley, near Dudley, Staffordshire Police said.

They remain in custody and are being questioned by officers while the investigation continues. The pub, known as the wonkiest in Britain, gained its distinctive appearance reportedly due to mining subsidence which caused one side of the building to be approximately 4 feet lower than the other. Both the police and South Staffordshire Council have been looking into the blaze. The council has said it will closely monitor work at the site after contractors were seen there earlier this week.
