The workmen demanded payment from the victim when they tried to cancel an appointment.

On Tuesday two cold callers offered roofing services to a home in the Bonhill area.

The suspects are described as white men in their 30s to 40s. One was around 5ft 9ins with an English accent. PC Kevin McCord from Dumbarton Police Station said: “Bogus callers often prey on the most vulnerable people in our communities and try to scam them into losing substantial amounts of money.
