Thursday's front page: Please help us: desperate plea from sinking migrant boat TomorrowsPapersToday Latest from joeduggan1 mollyblackall:
People rescued while attempting to cross the English Channel are escorted off from the UK Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat at the Marina in Dover, southeast England, on December 14, 2022.
“We are on the boat and we have a problem. Please help. We have children and a family on the boat,” the man says in the message.Mr Posner said that while the charity could not say explicitly that the message was made from the same vessel as the one involved in the tragedy overnight, “most of the information we have shows us that probably it was this one”.
The fisherman told Sky News he was woken by screams for help and that the situation “looked like something out of a second world war movie”, adding: “There were people in the boat everywhere, screaming.” A reply sent by Utopia 56 to the boat was not received on WhatsApp, with further messages sent at 2.59am and 3.32am also not received, he said.
