Scheme is dependent on grant from Homes England
A £28million scheme to build 162 energy-efficient houses and apartments in Old Trafford is soon to be put before planning bosses - if a grant from Homes England can be secured. The joint venture between Trafford council and Trafford Housing Trust - including 30 per cent affordable homes - will be complete in the summer of 2025.
In July, the council was awarded nearly £2.4million from the Brownfield Housing Fund to support the delivery of the scheme. A report to the committee by Coun Liz Patel, executive member for economy and regeneration, said: "The council is committed to tackling the shortage of housing in Trafford." It said that the scheme in Bold Street, Old Trafford would make a 'meaningful contribution' to the council's housing targets. A planning application is expected to be submitted soon following the executive's approval last night.
It is expected the planning application will be decided upon in January prior to a start date of March 2023, subject to approval. The target date for completion is June 2025.
