Abdallah Sima and Danilo are two of Rangers signings beginning to motor but Ferguson isn't drinking the Kool-Aid yet.

Barry Ferguson has told some Rangers stars going through a purple patch that the jury's still out, and Philippe Clement will keep them 'on edge'.

It's all heading in an upward trajectory at Ibrox with Rangers through to the Viaplay Cup final next month against Aberdeen after beating Hearts, with Clement looking for his first piece of silverware as boss and to end a decade-long hoodoo in the competition for the Light Blues. His predecessor, Michael Beale, was hounded for not getting a tune out of the majority of his summer signings, but with Brazilian forward Danilo and Abdallah Sima are among those starting to motor under Clement.

It's a trend that has Ibrox hero and Record Sport columnist Ferguson excited, but the former Rangers captain reckons the mega-bucks recruits still have some way to go before becoming fan favourites. The pundit has also noticed a sizeable change in how the squad operate in the media, something he believes the Belgian boss will have them well drilled in.

He told Go Radio "It's a clean slate for every player. One guy that has stood out for me is Sima. I love his energy. He might not be great with his back to goal but he puts a fair shift in. Danilo, I really like him. I was told his best position is through the middle. You're starting to see the players gaining a bit of confidence, it's amazing what wins does for you, fresh ideas with a new manager.

"You can see the reason why some of these players were brought to Ibrox. But the jury is still out, he is still keeping an eye on them. I like the fact when you listen to the players do media, it looks to me as if they're on their toes. They're on edge a bit, because the manager is clear i's still early doors. You still have to prove to me you can go the long haul with me."
