Perth Residents were alarmed by heavy rainfall on Sunday night leading to the local MP demanding action to fix the problems experienced in the Craigie area of the city.
“Rapid action” to tackle repeated flooding in Perth has been demanded after heavy rain on Sunday night again put scores of residents on high alert.
“Another close call last night,” she posted. “[I understand there was] 37mm of rain with 20mm of that falling in one hour. At Murray Crescent, a couple in their eighties reported a feeling of “panic” when they woke to see their home surrounded by water again. “The water on Sunday night flooded their whole back garden, up to the house. It was lapping up their steps.
“With each of these events, huge damage is being caused to people’s households, and residents of affected areas are now living in a permanent state of anxiety, simply waiting for the next flood to happen. “I relayed this to stakeholders, and it is my hope that these views are being taken on board during the next stage of considerations.”
