A person is dead after a police officer shot them during an apparent suspicious incident in Prospect Friday night, police said.A Prospect police officer shot an individual after making contact with them inside of a home, resulting in serious injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.The Office of the Inspector General is leading the investigation. The Waterbury State's Attorney and Eastern District Major Crime Squad are assisting.
"I want to share with the citizens that this was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the rest of the town," said Prospect Mayor Robert Chatfield. No specifics about the incident were available. A few police cruisers could be seen blocking off the back section of the dead end road."Terrible for the families, but the police officer, I could say, was probably doing his job," Chatfield added."I come home and my son and my mom, they let me know about 5 o'clock they saw a lot of police coming on the road, but we were inside the house.
