Erling Haaland was taken off at half-time during Manchester City's 6-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League
Pep Guardiola played down concerns over Erling Haaland after substituting the Manchester City striker at half-time of their 6-1 win over Bournemouth.
Guardiola was only talking up how fit Haaland felt on Friday, yet the Norwegian could only last 45 minutes against Bournemouth before limping out of the game at the break with the score 3-0. City would not miss their No.9 for the rest of the match but will hope to have him back as quickly as possible with crunch games on the horizon.
City's coach admitted after the game that Haaland did not feel comfortable when he left the field at half-time, explaining why he came off. However, Guardiola did not think it was too serious after the game, suggesting that Haaland could be back as early as Tuesday for the Champions League game at home to Young Boys - or if not the Premier League game away at Chelsea next Sunday.
"Twist in the ankle, we didn't want to take risks with him, he didn't feel comfortable," he said. "He'll be back maybe Tuesday but maybe next Sunday. I didn't speak with the doctors yet but we will see in the next days how it develops." City moved to the top of the table with their 6-1 win, although Arsenal are in action in the teatime game at Newcastle and Tottenham host Chelsea on Monday.
