Foodies reveal what ingredients, instructions and utensils can turn them off a recipe in a heartbeat
Foodies across the internet, more specifically X , have come together to share their recipe ‘deal breakers’ - an ingredient, utensil, or even a particular instruction which puts them off from ever using a recipe. For some, it's iced water, for others, deep frying.
In response, Nicmillerstale said it depends on who wrote the recipe. They explained: “Much depends on the reliability of the recipe writer. Philmorse stated: "An ingredient I have never heard of or don’t know where to buy." Calamarities typed: "Recipes that require many different ingredients; herbs, spices, pastes, etc. Things I will not use up for anything else. Feels like a waste."
Other deal breakers included using a thermometer, requiring two or more fresh herbs, the use of a stand mixer, Jerusalem artichokes, and an overcomplication of instructions. However, another integral point of recipes are the weights of ingredients.
