Patients to be told to get themselves to hospital again with 'limited' ambulances available

Patients are to be told to get themselves to hospital again, as 'limited' ambulances will be available during the upcoming strike days as the row over pay and conditions continues.

Life threatening emergencies that warrant an ambulance include a cardiac arrest, fits, breathing difficulties, serious head injuries and severe bleeding. People are also urged to only attend A&E in urgent emergencies and to use NHS 111 or their GP in the first instance. "Reasons to continue to call 999 include cardiac arrest, loss of consciousness, fits that aren’t stopping, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding, allergic reactions and serious head injuries. For non-urgent concerns, please seek help from NHS 111 online, or contact your GP and pharmacist both will be operating during next week’s strikes.
