The education board at Renfrewshire Council approved proposals to site the new 800-pupil school campus on an 8.5-acre site at the north end of Craigton Drive.
A site has been secured to deliver a new primary school in Dargavel – despite being deemed unsuitable by parents.
The catastrophic miscalculation in the projected school roll forced the local authority to admit a second primary school would be needed within the development and a massive extension built at the associated Park Mains High School, Erskine. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.If plans for the new school site are approved by the council’s planning and infrastructure boards next week, the council believes it will takes ownership of the site by mid-September.
“There is one 3G pitch proposed with the new school. When Dargavel was initially proposed, we were supposed to have four 3G pitches so this isn’t anywhere close to what we really should have and need as a community of this size.
