Mr Kakar, 51, is from Balochistan province. He will lead the interim government to oversee the next general elections
The ceremony took place in the capital, Islamabad, on Monday – the country’s 76th independence day.
The discussions came after the dissolution of the lower house of parliament on 9 August – a few days short of its five-year tenure.
