The incident took place at a bonfire in the Portaferry Road area
The emergency services were called to the incident at Portaferry Road in the town at around 10pm on July 11.
It is understood that a person has been injured after falling from a bonfire and has been taken to hospital for treatment.A large crowd had gathered in the area at the time of the incident and the injured person was taken inside the nearby fire station until an ambulance arrived. A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police responded to a report of an incident at a bonfire in the Portaferry Road area of Newtownards this evening, July 11th. One person has been taken to hospital."
