The energy supplier is handing out rewards points which can be converted to account credits
Energy supplier Octopus Energy has revealed a new rewards programme that allows customers to 'get paid to use less energy'.
The company also announced plans for the credits to be used in other ways, such as make donations charity, exchanging them for Octopus Energy merchandise, entertainment, and even food. Customers can also earn Octopoints by spinning the 'Wheel of Fortune' which can be done every time a meter reading is submitted and by referring a friend to switch to Octopus Energy or take part in its solar installations scheme.
The Demand Flexibility Service was set up by the National Grid in the winter of 2022 to help incentivise customers to refrain from using electricity during peak periods. This aims to reduce strain on the nation's electricity supply and reduce the risk of any blackouts.
