A service providing support to victims of stalking in Nottinghamshire is being revamped after the county saw an increase in cases last year. More than 11,000 stalking and harassment offences were recorded by Nottinghamshire Police in the 12 months ending October 2022, a 7.5% increase from the pre-pandemic period and a slight increase on the previous year.

Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner says she has seen how "incredibly damaging" the crime can be and has announced changes to a key service for victims. The Nottinghamshire Stalking Advocacy Service provides help for male and female survivors of non-domestic stalking aged 16 or over. Nottingham Women's Aid has now been awarded the contract to deliver this service up until March 2026 in what authorities say will be a more "enhanced and streamlined" offer. Head of services at Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid, Mandy Green, said: "We are really pleased to have secured this contract and work across Nottinghamshire with our partners Juno, Equation and other professionals to make it safer for individuals who experience non-domestic abuse stalking behaviours.

"This revamped service shows the level of commitment we have to tackle stalking here in Nottinghamshire, and it will provide excellent support for those in need. Our partners are experts in responding to trauma as well as finding ways in which victims can recover and move forward with their lives."
