Nobody wants to see it close
People in Nottinghamshire say they are worried about the news that Wilko is entering administration - as it is a shop that "sells everything". Nottinghamshire’s own and one of the nation’s leading hardware retail chains, Wilko announced its “difficult decision to enter administration” on Thursday, August 10, putting more than 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk.
Brenda Thompson, 88, from Beeston was surprised by the news. She said: “When I heard the news, it shocked me, it’s such a good store. I go there once or twice a week, so would miss it if it goes. I am very worried for its long-term future.” Fred Shenton-Mcqueen, 19, from Beeston, seemed less concerned. He said: “I haven’t heard the news yet, but it won’t affect me too much as I don’t visit often. I guess I’m worried about the people’s jobs, but if it does close, I can just shop somewhere else.”
