The average house price is £1.6m
The most expensive street in Nottinghamshire has been revealed by Halifax in a round-up of the priciest locations to live in the UK. Leafy Melton Road is one of the costliest in the East Midlands, with the average house price put at £1.6m. It is beaten only by Warren Hill in Leicestershire where properties sell for around £1.65m.
Detached properties with four or five bedrooms and sprawling gardens are situated on Melton Road, which winds through both Edwalton and West Bridgford. London dominates the priciest streets list, with just one road outside of the capital making it into the top 20, Titlarks Hill in Ascot. The street, which is in 12th place, has properties valued at an average of £12.3 million.
On the most expensive street, Phillimore Gardens, in the London borough of Kensington, the average property will set buyers back an eye-watering £23,802,000. Kim Kinnaird, Halifax's mortgages director, said: “For almost all of us, these homes and their eye-watering price tags are the stuff fantasy house hunts are made of.
"That said, the price of a prestigious address can differ hugely across the UK. Living on the most expensive street in the North East or East Midlands will cost something closer to £1.5 million.”
