A watchdog found that the home was not meeting the wellbeing needs of its residents
A Nottinghamshire assisted living home that cares for people with learning disabilities has been put into special measures following an inspection. Richmond Lodge, situated in Richmond Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was moved from a 'good' rating to 'inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission after an inspection in August.
Staff at the facility also told inspectors there were concerns about safety. Debbie Ivanova, CQC’s director for people with learning disabilities and autistic people, said this was especially the case during evenings as there were no lights in the car park."In addition, the gate and front door to the service were left open for a long period of time during our inspection which could lead to people going out of the service without the support they need," she said.
"Autistic people can find certain lighting, sounds, smells, textures and tastes overwhelming, so it’s important this gets addressed. People's support plans didn’t set out their long-term aspirations or goals and there was no data about how people were progressing with their hobbies, interests or daily living achievements."
