Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper's Reds target summer transfer window signings
Nottingham Forest take on Sheffield United in their first home game of the Premier League season on Friday night.
It might only be the second match of the season for Forest, but it is still a big one. With the tough run of away fixtures they’ve got to start with, it places added emphasis on the home games. They really need to make the most of being at the City Ground. Everyone wants to see good, attacking football - Cooper himself does want to evolve the style of play - but I do think that still might take a bit of time. Getting new signings in would certainly help with that. Nevertheless, I’d still like to think it will be a positive Forest which plays with intent on Friday and which starts on the front foot.
A: Midfield is definitely an area Forest are looking to strengthen, and need to strengthen. The talk about Ibrahim Sangare has resurfaced, with a second bid having been rejected. Sangare would help the team to push on, but the club have to decide whether they are prepared to pay that amount. If not, the big question then is who is the alternative?
Bringing in two keepers has been on Forest’s to-do list all summer, with Dean Henderson a top target. That saga has had more twists and turns than we can all keep up with!
