A second man was given community service

A man has been jailed over the sale of digital ‘decoding’ boxes used for accessing pirated TV channels.

The operation, the PSNI said, took place between September 2018 and January 2019 and focused on a Belfast-based business operated by Padraig McVicker and Gary Doherty. The Court Service confirmed that offence related to the use of computer equipment including a Macbook, a PC tower and five USB’s containing software.

“Users and subscribers of illegal services should also be aware that they too are committing an offence for which they can be prosecuted.”
