Evans' inclusion in Man Utd's pre-season tour squad was a surprise and now he could be set to extend his stay.
Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill has been impressed by Jonny Evans’ displays for Manchester United in pre-season and hopes talks over a short-term contract will soon conclude.
Evans started two games in pre-season, playing 174 minutes in all. The centre-back has continued to train with the first team, although he has yet to feature in a matchday squad as negotiations over a deal continue. Confirming contract talks with Evans are ongoing earlier this month, Ten Hag said: "No, [Harry Maguire's situation] doesn't affect that, We will see. We are in talks and when we have news, we will bring that, as always.
