People have been conned out of thousands of pounds since Christmas due to the fraud, officers say.
The scammers tell victims to withdraw cash to assist in an undercover police investigation
Victims are then instructed to withdraw all their money before a police officer arrives at their home to take their cash for "safe keeping" as part of an undercover operation.
