Tory MPs have demanded tax cuts including changes to inheritance tax and corporation tax at the upcoming autumn statement

. Former Cabinet minister David Jones said it would be a “big disappointment”, calling for cuts to inheritance tax and corporation tax “which is making us uncompetitive”.

The overall tax burden as a proportion of GDP is on course to reach its highest peacetime level after a spike in spending during the pandemic, with funding for public services such as the NHS also steadily increasing over time.
