New signage and information packs to deter bogus callers and rogue traders have been implemented in the Cumbernauld area.

Officers have been working with North Lanarkshire Council Trading Standards and a local community group, North Area Crime Prevention Forum, as well as local Elected Members, Councillors Smith and McCulloch, to introduce the No Cold Calling Zone by distributing new signage and crime prevention information packs for local people.

Inspector Susan Rae said, “These zones are one of a range of methods we use to tackle bogus callers. They can help prevent vulnerable people falling victim to bogus callers and rogue traders. North Lanarkshire Council Protective Services Manager, Paul Bannister, added: “We welcome this opportunity to work alongside our partners in Police Scotland to reduce the harm caused to consumers by the criminal enterprise of doorstep crime.
