An Ormskirk nightclub faces a council licensing review amid police concerns about alleged crime and disorder.

These include for expansion work. But having multiple licences for one premises leads to issues for staff and enforcement authorities because there is no clarity as to which licence is being operated at any specific time, the council report adds.

According to a West Lancashire Council licensing report, the police's submission states: "Application for the review of a premises licence is being submitted by Lancashire Constabulary, following poor management leading to failure in complying with the premises licence conditions and disorder between staff and members of the public."

The letter, made anonymous by the council, alleges: "I must say it's shocking Alpine has not been closed down before. I have never come across such an abusive and dangerous venue before." The person alleges 'homophobic attacks, abuse, spiking sexual assault, assault, bullying and sexual harassment/abuse.'

Lancashire police have supplied extra information and CCTV footage, which is due to be shown at the licensing meeting on Monday.
