The Scottish Labour leader said the forthcoming by-election in Rutherglen and Hamilton West was of 'national significance' across the UK.
Voters in Rutherglen and Hamilton West have moved on from talking about Nicola Sturgeon, Anas Sarwar has said.
He told the Record the vote would be of "national significance" across the UK and not just Scotland as a Labour win would prove that "we can have a fresh start". The councillor claimed the former First Minister is still popular despite her arrest in June in connection to Operation Branchform.Asked if Labour would welcome the former SNP leader being seen campaigning, Sarwar said his party was "relentlessly focused" on helping people struggling with the cost of living.
