The outgoing FM was criticised for attending the launch of the Glen Sannox in 2017, when the ferry was still years away from completion
Nicola Sturgeon has come under fire over her involvement in the Ferguson Marine ferry scandal in a damning report from MSPs.
Neither ferry has been completed with total costs having tripled to £300 million - with the final price tag still unknown. Sturgeon personally attended the shipyard for the announcement, and the committee said the move “almost certainly” weakened the negotiating position of the ferry-owning body Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd when problems emerged later.
"We believe that this almost certainly weakened CMAL’s negotiating position with FMEL, particularly as important details of the contract were still being worked out. MSPs are likely to seize on the committee’s conclusion that the launch of the Glen Sannox in November 2017 – an event attended by the First Minister – was premature.
