The 43-year-old entertainer was in court for a hearing after Schuman had sought to block a countersuit he filed after she claimed he had sexually assaulted her.
Backstreet Boys vocalist, 43, was permitted to proceed with lawsuit. Carter is countersuing Schuman, 39, over 2002 sex assault allegations.
Judge said that Carter had shown enough evidence to merit the suit proceeding. Carter has been accused of sexual assaults by two other women. He has denied all of the accusations made against him in the separate suits
