Christin's three-year-old daughter has a dairy and soy allergy
A Northern Irish mum has highlighted the difficulties facing those with a fod allergy or intolerance during the Cost of Living Crisis.
Christin Martin who's three-year-old daughter Lucy has a dairy and soy allergy, explained the difficulties that her family can face in securing the food that she needs. "We also have the problem where she is unable to use the vegan alternatives that are available for her due to her soy allergy and many of the foods are soy based.
Philippa McKeown-Brown, Head of Food Policy and Emerging Markets at the Consumer Council said that while some people with food hypersensitivities can be supported through the NHS, there are others who are not and rising prices and a lack of availability of products was having an impact on them. "Issues have also been highlighted with the quality of free-from products and their size, with them often being much smaller than regular products, as well as more expensive, so those with hypersensitivities are having to buy more of the product.
