Reporters lyell_tweed and LouisaGregson are out and about in Manchester as the city prepares to ring in the new year!
Council bosses have confirmed that the event space in Piccadilly Gardens will host the official free countdown with a huge screen and two areas – a bar space where revellers can buy drinks, as well as a separate family-friendly, zero alcohol viewing platform.DJs will provide musical entertainment throughout the evening and revellers can purchase food and drinks here ahead of the all-important countdown to midnight.
Revellers, clad in their best outfits, will be hitting the offering of bars, pubs and clubs across the city and beyond. However you decide to spend the night, whether that be out and about or a glass of fizz at home, we will be with you bringing you all the latest.
