Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has hailed the "masterclass" delivered by Trent Alexander-Arnold during Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
Much was made of Alexander-Arnold's poor form last season, though Liverpool found a way to bring the best out of the 24-year-old during the final ten Premier League games of the previous campaign after taking the decision to deploy the defender in an inverted full-back role. "A lot of the game, he ended up playing as a centre-back," the 41-year-old said on Match of the Day 2. "It's almost like they've tried to find a balance in the team to protect themselves defensively. He almost played like a quarterback and it was brilliant to watch because we know the capability of him.
