When thinking of a night away just myself and my husband, my first thought is always a luxury hotel with a spa, that's a non-negotiable for me. Yet when I think of taking our children away somewhere, aged five and two, I've discovered that self-catering is the only way to go, but I never would have thought of a self-catering break...just for the two of us.
But the brand new Lakeland Studios are a game-changer in my eye.
We know our summer has been well...rubbish! But we have to make do, so we packed our raincoats but miraculously didn't need them! We hit on a beautifully sunny weekend in Enniskillen which allowed us to fully-appreciate the scenery around us and enjoy the walks around the perfectly tended to grounds, as we reminisced while watching another couple celebrate their wedding day on the lawns overlooking the water at the rear of the Lisgoole suite.
Onto the afters and I couldn't pass the Raspberry and White Chocolate Roulade whilst my husband opted for the special of the evening, Apple Tart and custard, both resulting in clean plates once again! We had considered venturing the short taxi ride into Enniskillen town to finish our evening but there wasn't any need, after the pianist had finished, a fantastic musician set up for the night and kept the craic going with his vast array of songs as I sipped on yet another cocktail or two...the menu just had all my favourites I had to sample a few!
