New claims for Winter Fuel Payments are set to open on September 18 for people over 66, living in the UK and abroad.
The Department for Work and Pensions recently updated online guidance to reflect that new claims for the 2023/24 Winter Fuel Payment can be made from Monday, September 18, for people over State Pension age living in the UK and in eligible countries abroad. If you received the payment last year, for winter 2022/23, you will not need to apply again - claim forms will be available online nearer the application opening date.
The full amount of Winter Fuel Payment, including the pensioner cost of living payment you will get this year, depends on when you were born and your household circumstances during the qualifying period.
