According to the report, £160m has been spent on design fees for the Euston station project since October 2020. This comes on top of earlier costs of £129m, resulting in a total spend on design fees of £289m. Liberal Democrat transport spokeswoman Wera Hobhouse said the Government’s handling of HS2 was a “case study of their unfitness to govern”.
“Tens of thousands of jobs and major economic growth depend on building HS2. Ministers must now get on with it and deliver on their promises.”last month warned the pause would “lead to additional costs and potentially higher costs overall”.
