The National Trust for Scotland have decided not to extend their lease at Pollok House after 25 years at the property.
This comes weeks after it was announced the home will be closed for two-years due to a major £4million refurbishment funded by the local authority. Visitors have until November 20 to explore the house before roof and general fabric repairs are carried out. NTS have managed the iconic building for 25-years, however, their time at the home, which is owned by Glasgow City Council, has come to an end following the expiration of their lease, which the charity has decided not renew. Despite the news NTS is hoping to be a part of the property and park's future.
A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: "The National Trust For Scotland have decided not to extend their lease at Pollok House, albeit we continue to work with them on the long term vision for the park." An NTS spokesperson added: "The Trust does not own Pollok House as it was gifted to the people of Glasgow and held on their behalf initially by Glasgow Corporation and now by Glasgow City Council. We manage it under contract on their behalf. The council as owners have been able to secure £4million of investment to carry out essential conservation work in the house and will close it from November 20 for two years to enable this.
