Back in 2010, a pleasant afternoon's spot of gardening unearthed a ghastly discovery and a mystery to be solved
It's not every day a spot of routine garden maintenance turns into a police investigation, or fears your house might have been built on an ancient burial ground. But that's exactly what happened to one Chorlton man in 2010.
Matthew began to fear he would soon become the chief suspect in a criminal investigation. Thankfully, officers soon got to the bottom of the mystery after discovering that the remains dated back to before he was even born - by around 2,000 years. The answer lies with a GP, his no-nonsense wife and their two children. The mystery began to unravel when it was discovered a Doctor Carl Bracey had lived in the house before Matthew.As a teenager, he had been on holiday on the Sinai peninsula, in the Middle East, when he was offered the two skulls. Obsessed with anatomy he bought them and brought them back to England, keeping them at his parents’ house before taking them to university and medical school.
