Retired policeman Paul, 68, who did not want to give his last name, had always paid the same monthly rent for the two-bedroom property in Sheffield where he has lived for 12 years.
Now Paul’s landlord has told him he is going to have to increase his rent again next year when his fixed-rate mortgage deal comes to an end.
