Billy Ford was urged by his dentist to see a doctor immediately
A man was diagnosed with a deadly skin cancer after his dentist spotted an unusual mark during a routine check-up.
Billy, who has attended the practice for 30 years, said: “John spotted the brown lesion on my eyelid during a routine check-up last May and asked me what it was. Billy has had three operations at Bolton Royal Hospital following his diagnosis in May 2022 and has since made a full recovery. “All three generations of our family go to this practice; he is a wonderful dentist and I’ll be forever so grateful to him. I’m now even more aware of the importance of applying SPF factor 50 sun cream every day and making sure all my family do the same.
According to Cancer Research UK, there are around 167,000 cancer deaths in the UK every year – that's nearly 460 diagnoses every day.
