Macie Vella was found dead at her dad's home
The mum of a young girl who took her own life said she only discovered she had been bullied after her tragic death.
Macie, who had secured offers at five universities after passing all her exams at college, had been prescribed anti-depressants but she had stopped taking them. During consultations with mental health professionals she insisted she had no plans to take her own life.On the evening of July 26 last year the alarm was raised after Macie sent a series of worrying texts to friends and relatives. When police forced entry into the house they found she had tragically taken her own life.
Linda said: "As a family we are really tight. I can talk about it now but there were so many times when I just wanted to be with her. I gave myself a shake and realised that our family has been through enough." Through a series of events, the last of which was a 26 mile 'memory march' on Saturday, Macie's friends, family and the wider community have raised an incredible £25,000 for YoungMinds. The charity supports young people with mental health issues by campaigning on their behalf, providing training and running a helpline for parents and organisng visits to schools to raise awareness.
