Emergency crews were at the scene for two hours and 30 minutes

13 crew members from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were called to Tandle Hill Country Park in Royton on Saturday following reports of the injury.

Enquiries established that the boy had come off the rope swing and landed awkwardly, sustaining a lower leg injury. Members of OMRT were on the scene for around two and a half hours.Crews worked alongside North West Ambulance Service who transported the boy to hospital. A spokesperson said: “Just after lunchtime, the team received a request from North West Ambulance Service to support with the extraction of a casualty in Tandle Hill Country Park.

“A boy had unfortunately come off a rope swing, landed awkwardly and sustained a lower leg injury. The boy was assessed by North West Ambulance Service paramedics and then transported by our team stretcher to the awaiting ambulance.Earlier in the day, OMRT had also assisted with supporting Rossendale & Pendle MRT on another incident, where a person was sent to hospital. Eight OMRT personnel were involved for one hour and 30 mins and helped transport the casualty to an awaiting ambulance.
