Follow for live updates on the M57 closures due to rainfall
The Merseyside motorway has had partial closures since around 6am this morning due to extreme weather flooding the carriageway from the River Alt.
North West Motorway Police said: "Consistent rain overnight has caused lots of surface water and in some area flooding. National Highways crews are working to try and get the water cleared."Husband and wife landlords who hid £50k when pub went bust won't have to pay back a penny Traffic monitoring service Inrix posted: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to flooding on M57 Northbound between J6 A506 Valley Road and A59. Travel time is around 10 minutes. There is also slow traffic on the Southbound carriageway around the A59."
Delays are in the Switch Island area on the northbound carriageway. Pictures from the scene show traffic hugging the central reservation to pass through the flood water, with it too deep in the left hand lane to pass.M57 delays due to flooding National Highways says traffic is passing smoothly but there are delays of around 15 minutes to journeys.
